More Little Things...

Yesterday's post was originally much longer. I don't know what happened to make it get cut off. I'm kind of ticked, but I'll try to recreate what I wrote yesterday. Here are the rest of the little things I appreciate more than ever:

Command Strips!!! Stu, please ensure that 3M continues to produce these little beauties. They are good for just about everything.
Bathroom rug! Thank you, rug, for being so soft and absorbent when I get out of the shower. Without you, my feet would have to touch a disgusting floor covered in who knows what.

Slippers and Robe! Worn every day so far. Definitely an invaluable addition to my suitcases. Matt was jealous of my cozy feet, so I bought him some slippers at Primark yesterday.

Hair stuff! Broke down and bought a dryer and a straightener. These were the cheapest I could find in brands that I recognized. Now I can shower in the mornings and leave the flat with dry, styled hair! Yay!

Brita filter! Makes all the difference. We are now drinking tasty tap water instead of water that tastes like lead pipes.

This isn't really little, but it's the view of the front of our place. We are the ones on the lower right hand side. That window where the bikes are parked is our bedroom window. Discovered that it was cracked open yesterday when I heard the wind howling through it, so I closed it. What a difference! So much less noise from the kids at the daycare next door, etc.

It's beginning to look like fall around Cambridge. This is a tree right outside our little complex. The gold color is just beautiful!

If you know me at all, you know that I always have to take pictures of flowers. These pretty roses are at the entrance to our neighborhood thing. I took advantage of the sunshine and snapped a couple pictures of these. The people walking by gave me funny looks.

If the color of this flower was a crayon, it would be "Dusty English Rose."

If you look beyond our back yard and through this lovely fence, there are soccer fields. This weekend we heard a ton of games going on. British soccer moms are the same as American ones. Lots of yelling at their children in shrill voices, saying things like, "Harry! Mark up!" or "John, get back there!" It was oddly comforting to hear those familiar sounds. Brought back lots of memories. (I also felt like a creeper taking this picture. Don't know if you can tell, but the team out there is a bunch of guys about my age, and some of them are shirtless. I was literally standing in some bushes, peering through a fence, and taking pictures of half-dressed young men.)

This is the view if you are looking back towards our place from outside the little picket fence gate. If you squint, you may be able to make out the clothes line Matthew hung for me.
Well, that's all for now. More pictures to come of our new bedding that arrived yesterday. We should be getting our mattress topper this afternoon, so I can decorate a little bit more. I think nesting is in my soul. Until later, cheers!

  1. Once again, you did a fabulous job describing your home and the surroundings. I think I do see the clothesline. Great job Matt!

Hopefully each day is better than the day before as you continue to settle in.

    Love,
    Mom

  2. Just noticed this shout out to 3M, much obliged. I can hook you two up with tonnes (amidoinitrite?) of those next time I see ya (pun very much intended)
